WALKS AND HIKES
Depending on the tide, Ile Grande shows various facets, granting – or denying – access to the various islands that surround it. The 7-kilometre long GR (Grande Randonnée) coastal path will allow you to walk around Île-Grande in about 2½ hours. Along the small paths, you will discover St-Sauveur harbour, Kervoalant marshes, shingle or fine sand beaches, Toul Gwenn dunes, the legendary Canton and d’Aval islands, Morvil island, the Rocher du Corbeau, the local passage tomb, as well as St-Sauveur fountain. Ile-Grande, both wild and dynamic, somehow distinguishes itself from the rest of Pleumeur Bodou: though it can be accessed by a small stone bridge against the foreshore, it possesses its own character. Together with the neighbouring islets (Canton and d'Aval islands), it also stands out with brightly hued coastal landscapes. The sea here, more than elsewhere, retreats far away, giving at high tide a glamorous, almost dreamlike quality to its white sand beaches.
